My project for today is using the new Contempo Cage Die-Namics and Stamp Set. I seriously cannot get enough of this birdcage... it is too stinkin' cute and oh so shabby chic! I created an altered wooden tray and a card with this set...
First up is my altered tray. I have this favorite picture of my husband and I that was taken at the Valencia Hotel at Santana Row for my birthday last year. WOW, what a spoiled few days I had that weekend. Hubbs really knows how to lay on the spoiling! LOL! So I wanted to remember it by creating something to showcase the picture. I received this wooden tray from my BFF Bona and I hadn't done anything to it since she gave it to me months ago! With the Contempo Cage set, I just got inspired to create something with it! Here are some pics...
First I painted the entire wooden tray with white acrylic paint, then I edged it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I layered on some papers from Prima's Reflections collection. I added an Oval Decorative Doily behind the picture. The word "love" is from a chipboard alpha set by Heidi Swaap -- really old stuff from my stash LOL! I cut out a bird with the designer paper using the Contempo Cage Die-namics and I added a pearl for his eye. The spray to the right is by I Am Roses. I hand-crinkled some white seam binding, created a bow, then added this cute birdcage charm I received in a swap from my friend Nancy and hung it on the bow using a Making Memories Vintage Garment Pin. The rosette trim lining the bottom of the altered tray is from Etsy.
The Contempo cage is cut out using some of the Reflections designer paper. I lined the top of the cage with the new Vintage Flourish Die-Namics and tied a bow out of burlap string to the top of the cage. The birds are cut out with MFT felt and I added pearls for their eyes. The two-toned brown flowers at the base of the cage are by I Am Roses. The banner I cut out using the Mini Pennants Die-Namics, then I stamped words from a sentiment that came with the Contempo Cage stamp set. The butterfly is from the Notched Tag Die-namics. I added a little Tim Holtz bottle filled with bead pearls underneath the cage.
Here's one last look....
For my second project I created a tri-fold card using Webster's Pages designer paper.
I layered a Decorative Doily behind my birdcage and cut out the bird in MFT felt. I stamped the "chain" holding the birdcage from the stamp set, then added a pearl on top. I accented with the Prima Donna Petals flower, which is then accented with the Leafy Flourish. Recollections flatback pearls are added for a final touch. I hand-crinkled some white seam binding and created a bow to the side of the cage. The sentiment is stamped on a piece of the Scalloped Ribbon.
As you open the tri-fold card, you get this... I stamped one of the three little birds from the stamp set using green chalk ink. Then I stamped his wing in brown chalk ink using one of the many patterned wings that also comes with the set. The music notes and "tweet" are also from the set.
Here's the inside of the card where I stamped a sentiment from the set onto the fishtail banners that come in the First Place Award Ribbon set. The bird and flourish are stamped from the Contempo Cage set.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an AMAZING crafty week!
