"Best Friends" 12x12 Scrapbook Layout & a card

Hi everyone! I have a few I Am Roses projects to share with you today!

First up is this 12x12 scrapbook layout I created...

My older brother and I are 13 months apart and when we were growing up, we were inseparable! I would sneak into his room with all my stuff animals and dolls and crawl into his bed and we would play until the late hours of the night without our parents catching us! My Mom snapped this photo of us playing. She found this photo in an old photo box and gave it to me. I scanned it right away and knew someday I'd create something with it. Well, today's the day!

Here are some photos to share with you:

Thank you for letting me share my latest creations with you today! I hope you give a scrapbook layout a "go"... they are super fun to make and the best keepsake for your family to look back on years from now!

TIP: I've been asked on several occasions about how I store my "bulky" scrapbook layouts. Sometimes I display them in 12x12 shadow boxes or "scrapbooking page" frames that you can purchase at your local craft and hobby store. I hang the shadow boxes in our Bonus Room to display. Other times, I insert them in plastic envelopes that I purchase at clearbags.com and keep them in a basket ("filing" style) near my family albums in the living room... that way guests can pull them out of the basket to take a look at them.  I back all my dimensional/bulky layouts on heavy chipboard as well to keep them stable. :-)

Anywhoooo..... have an AWESOME week ahead and happy scrappin'! ❤

hugs!

Graphic 45 Design Team 2012 Audition

Hi everyone! ❤

Thanks for stopping by today. I have some special projects to share with you. Some old (but fav's) and some new. I decided to send in my submission for Graphic 45's Open Design Team call. Gosh, can you imagine me being on the Graphic 45 design team?! Well, it's been one of my dreams... and I've been creating with their products for a while now so I thought I'd give it a go! I LOVE Graphic 45 and being able to showcase their products in my projects like I already do, but do it along side Diane and her team... what a DREAM that would be for me! ❤

Here is my line up of projects for the Graphic 45 Open Design Team Call 2012 (projects lined up from past to present!)

Project #1

I created this altered tag box and tags for a special friend using Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess paper collection. I am including some photos below, but click HERE for my blog post and link to my video tutorial.

Project #2

Le Romantique 8x8 Layout

I created a few 8x8 layouts and one of them was of my husband and I in Napa for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Here are some pictures below. I love the Le Romantique paper collection. It's so pretty and "romantic"! Click HERE for my blog post with additional details and pictures.

Project #3

One of my passions is altering boxes and frames. In this project, I took a balsa box from Michael's and altered it using the Steampunk Debutante papers (love, love!) I didn't stop there though...I created a little mini-mini album to go inside! Click HERE for my blog post with additional pictures and a link to my video tutorial that has received over 11,000 hits!

Project #4

I love to recycle and why not save those toilet paper rolls to create a mini album?! :-) In this project, I do just that using the Hallowe'en in Wonderland paper collection. Click HERE for my blog post and additional pictures of this project. Click HERE for my video tutorial of this TP mini album!

Project #5

Hallowe'en in Wonderland XL Tag

I created this extra large tag using the Hallowe'en in Wonderland paper collection. I just LOVE Alice in Wonderland so when this paper collection came out, I just went crazy creating mini albums and tags! LOL! I featured a few of them on  my blog and YouTube channel. Click HERE for my blog post, which features additional photos and details.

Project #6

Did I already say how much I love to alter boxes? LOL! For this project, I altered a square, paper mache box using the Steampunk Debutante paper collection. I also created a mini album to store inside. Click HERE for my blog post which includes additional details. I also created a video tutorial HERE.

Project #7

Curtain Call Altered Cigar Box

I created this altered Cigar box for a swap using the Curtain Call papers. I just love the images on this collection and they are so fun to fussy cut and use on projects as accents. Click HERE to view my blog post with additional photos and details as well as a video tutorial!

Inside I lined the box with black velvet and added a mirror and some floral trim.

Project #8

Treasure Friend 8x8 Scrapbook Layout

I didn't use Graphic 45 papers on this project, but wanted to share my versatility when it comes to creating scrapbook layouts. I love to layer and use various elements on a layout. On this one, I used circles as the focus of my background. And I just love my little Tim Holtz paper distresser... I use it on almost everything! LOL! Click HERE for my blog post which contains additonal photos, details and a link to my fun video tutorial!

Project #9

Tropical Travelogue 12x12 Scrapbook Layout

I am so in love with the new Tropical Travelogue paper collection. I couldn't wait to scrap the pictures of my son Logan that were taken at Carlsbad beach a few summers ago. I just ADORE summer time and the colors of this paper collection are PERFECT! Click HERE for my blog post of this project,  which contains products details and a link to my video tutorial.

Project #10

Communique "Thank You" card

I created this thank you card for a very special friend of mine who is just so super amazing! She deserved something extra special! I did a ton of layering on this card using the Communique paper collection. I also added an Envelope Tag to add some interest and an additional layer. Click HERE to view my blog post for this project as well as a video tutorial.

Project #11

Le Romantique Altered J

I created this altered J for a special friend using the Le Romantique paper collection. She loves butterflies just as much as I do, and the butterflies in this collection were PERFECT for the background paper I matted over the "J" using glossy accents. For details, additional pictures, and a video tutorial, check out my blog post HERE.

Altered "J" for a friend

Hi everyone!!

I have another fun project to share with you guys! I created this altered J using one of those paper mache letters from Joann's and Graphic 45's Le Romantique paper collection. I had so much fun creating this and can't wait for my special friend to get her hands on it! She loves butterflies as much as I do, so the Le Romantique paper collection was just PERFECT! I hope she loves it! ❤

Here are some pics...

First, I applied 1 coat of gesso to prep the surface of the paper mache "J." Then I used some Folk Art Metallic paint in the "champagne" color and added a layer over the gesso. It created a very pretty sparkly surface! I traced the J onto the Le Romantique paper, cut it out and adhered it down using glossy accents. I used Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage Photo to distress the edges...

The sentiment is by Invoke Arts...

I love the 12x12 tag page... I used one of the "ribbon slide" tags here and ran some Maya Road velvet trim through it...

I love to layer I Am Roses flowers... layering on the rose buds adds the perfect touch!

Thanks so much for stopping by the check out my latest projects!

Enjoy the week ahead and happy scrappin'!

hugs!
