MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch #35

Hey everyone and welcome to this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club (WSC) sketch challenge! Grab your supplies and play along, because there is a $15 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique to be won!

Here's what we're playing with this week:

If you are new to MFT's WSC, all you need to do is create a card or paper project using the sketch above as inspiration. You don't have to use MFT stamps in your creation, but if you win and use MFT stamps, that would mean a $20 gift voucher, versus $15! More shopping money for the MFT boutique is always nice! :-)

Upload your card or paper project to SplitcoastStampers with keyword MFTWSC35. Be sure to visit Kim's Blog for more the details and to see more samples from the other designers!

I created 2 cards for today's challenge.

The first card I created is for my son's 4th birthday. I used Who's That Birthday Girl, colored her up with my Copics and paper pieced her dress. The papers are by My Minds Eye - Breeze collection.

I had a blast creating the elements for my second card. The dressform is from the Sew Nifty Die-namics and stamp set. I created a pin cushion out of the dressform and altered it. Click HERE to watch my video tutorial on how I created the Dressform pin cushion. I also had some fun getting "grungey" with the canvas Rolled Daisy. Click HERE for my video tutorial on the flower.

Now onto my project...

I created this card using the super beautiful Mermaid Marci. I just LOVE this image, she is so adorable with her little mermaid fin!

I colored her up with my Copic markers and used my Gold At You Spica glitter pen to color in the starfish in her hair. I fussy cut her and popped her up on dimensionals, layered on top of some doilies I cut out using my nesties. The paper collection is an old stack by DCWV called Ciao Bella.

Here's a close-up...

I created the "seaweed" using a Martha Stewart punch and design paper. The flowers are by I Am Roses and the leaf spray is from my friend Karla's Etsy. The bubbles are little "bling" stickers I received in a RAK from a scrappy friend in Canada.

I finished off the inside of the card too, you can peek at it from this angle...

Color medium: Copic Markers, At You Spica Glitter Pen (Gold)
Skin: E000, E00, E21, R20, BV00
Hair: E74, E77, E79
Starfish: Y21, At You Spica Glitter Pen (Gold)
Fin: G12, BG11, BG13

I'm at the end of today's hop. Thanks so much for playing along! Now be sure to head back to the La-La Land Crafts blog and answer that ONE question for your chance to win the fabulous blog candy that is up for grabs!

Happy Birthday Luka and Marci!

Altered Hanging Sign & I Am Roses Open Design Team Call!

Hey everyone! WOW, did this weekend go by fast, or what? Geesh, it's like I blinked and I'm back to work. Sigh! I'm just happy I got to spend the weekend with my boys & hubby shopping and was able to get my "craft" on! Whoot whooot!

I'd like to share an I Am Roses project that I worked on. This is a wooden hanging plate that I received in a RAK from my scrappy friend Michelle over at 1MichelleJoy on YouTube. I decided to alter it using the infamous paint crackle technique and I used a bunch of I Am Roses products to "dress" it up. I plan on hanging this sign on the door of my craftroom/office. :-)

Here are some pics...

Excuse the lighting... I took the picture at night and the brightest place I could hang the sign for the photo was on my bathroom doorknob. LOL!

Click HERE to watch a video of how I altered this altered hanging sign. Be sure to subscribe to the IAR Design team channel for lots of I Am Roses crafty inspiration! ❤

Fab Friend

Hey everyone and TGIF! Wow, what a crazy week it's been! Not only did my kids start school this week.... add soccer, Tae Kwon Do, homework and a full time job in the mix... and you got ME --- > the crazy busy Arlene. LOL!! But I'm sure many of you that have children can relate to the craziness our children's schedules can bring to our lives... BUT, I wouldn't trade it for the world! I have the best kids ever and I would go to the ends of the earth for each of them. ❤

So onto my Stampers Dream project for this week! I decided to bust out with some oldies but goodies... my Tim Holtz Baroque Alterations die and the forever wonderful Sewing Room Alterations die. I used the new My Minds Eye "A Happy Heart" papers and the sentiment is from the JustRite Forever Friends cling stamp set.

Here are some pics:

The large red rose is a Kaisercraft Paper Bloom that I sprayed with my Lindy Stamp Gang Rudolph's Nose Red Starburst Stain. The small rose buds are from my stash. I created a stick pin using findings from my craft supply and I added a button from the Toy Box collection by Crate Paper. I love the Maya Road Wood Mini spool that I added to the bunch -- it's so cute!!

The bling is by Recollections, but the metal bling layered on top of the sheer brown pleated Maya Road trim is by Webster's Pages.

I die cut the dressform in medium weight chipboard, then colored it up with Ranger Distress Stain in Fired Brick. I edged it in Distress Stain in Vintage Photo. I stamped one of the images from the Habadashery cling stamp set by Tim Holtz. I used some May Arts trim (currently out of stock) around the dressform's hips for her skirt. I added an mulberry rose from my stash. All the edges are finished off by edging them with Ranger Distress Ink in Walnut Stain.

I enjoyed sharing my project with you today. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have an amazingly sweet & crafty weekend!

hugs! ❤

the inside...

I used the Pure Innocence Poppy stamp set and new papers by My Minds Eye. I colored PI girl up with my Copic markers and paper pieced her cute little dress. I used my Nesties to "punch" a window in the front of my card so PI girl is peeking out from the inside. I added pearl bling, seam binding and a gorgeous crocheted flower my friend Char made for me. I used the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namics and layered them on the inside of my card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Be sure to check out the other WSC samples created by the design team over at Kim's blog!

We are so excited to introduce MFT's VIP kit 3 weeks early. This is a limited quantity product and will be available until sold out -- so don't wait, and get yours today on the MFT Boutique! Check out what's included in the VIP collection:

Who's that Mummy VIP Collection $27.90
  • Who's that Mummy stamp set
  • Mummy Sentiments mini (VIP exclusive stamp set - will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE)
  • Rolled Mum Die-namics Die
For my project I created this fun card using some Halloween papers by DCWV that was in my paper stash. I colored up WTG with my copic markers and layered her on some Fossil and Black Licorice MFT cardstock.

I created a flower using the new Rolled Mum Die-namics and black MFT felt. I die-cut the mum twice, layered, then rolled. Tip: This gives the mum more dimension and fullness!
